The UEMS published a response drafted jointly by UEMS Thematic Federation for Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity and the Surgical, Medical and Multi-Disciplinary Sections in to the recent publications on sexual misconduct in surgery in UK.
This response highlights that creating a safe working environment for medical workers and consequently supporting patient safety should be a top priority and in the interest of all medical stakeholders.
The UEMS supports general measures and recommendations for all medical doctors across Europe, and as a starting step, to insist on the acknowledgement that the problem of inappropriate sexual behaviours against female doctors do exist.
UEMS' response is built around the recommendations formulated by the UK Working Party on Sexual Misconduct in Surgery (WPSMS).
For further information on this response, please see the Response of UEMS to the recent publications on Sexual Misconduct in Surgery.
